We are seeking an experienced and talented Head of Risk to join our team. This individual will oversee the day-to-day risk activities within the company and manage the Information Security Manager and Risk Executive. . The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in risk management, a strong understanding of the payments and finance sector, and excellent analytical and communication skills.

Role Overview

The Head of Risk is responsible for establishing and maintaining effective risk management standards and procedures to prevent, detect, and correct non-compliance with applicable rules and regulations. The role ensures that all policies and procedures are efficiently implemented, understood, and adhered to across the organization. Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, the Head of Risk is a key senior leader who informs the Board about critical issues and material risks.

Key Responsibilities:

Risk Framework and Policy Development:

Draft and maintain the Finductive Risk Management Framework, including the Risk Management Policy.
Maintain the Business Continuity Management Process, working with process owners to ensure business continuity plans are in place and tested and ensuring IT infrastructure is covered by a tested Disaster Recovery Plan annually.

Risk Awareness and Training:

Develop and deliver training materials to the Board of Directors, senior management, and employees to enhance awareness of enterprise-wide risk principles .

Operational Risk Oversight:

Oversee and monitor the implementation of risk policies and programs.
Undertake thematic control testing exercises periodically, adopting a risk-based approach .
Maintain a comprehensive risk and control register.

Regulatory Compliance:

Ensure compliance with industry-standard financial practices, including segregation of funds, liquidity ratios, and capital adequacy assessments.
Conduct regular reviews of websites, processes, procedures, client-facing literature, and partner contracts from a risk perspective.

Reporting and Review:

Provide quarterly risk operational risk exposure reports (quantitative and qualitative) to the Board of Directors.
Independently investigate risk matters and draft post-mortem incident reports with recommendations for remedial actions.

Stress Testing and Analysis:

Perform annual reviews of the company’s critical business functions.
Conduct yearly stress tests with relevant risk scenarios to assess vulnerabilities in processes, systems, and behaviors.

Collaboration and Leadership:

Supervise and guide the Information Security Manager and Risk Executive, ensuring alignment with the organization’s risk management objectives.
Any other duty which is ancillary or related to the Employee's role.

Requirements:

Minimum of 3 years' experience in a management role in a regulated financial services entity or with the local regulatory body
Experience in dealing with regulatory bodies on all risk matters
Written and oral skills in English
Possess a professional integrity
Ability to take ownership of tasks
Prior experience working in a Fintech environment will be considered an asset
PQ'd by MFSA as a Risk Officer
