About The Job
We are seeking a Head – Investment Banking to lead and scale our firm’s Investment Banking vertical. This senior leadership role will be responsible for origination, execution oversight, revenue growth, and client relationships across M&A, private equity fundraising, structured finance, and strategic advisory.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead Investment Banking Business: Oversee M&A advisory, private equity fundraising, strategic transactions, and structured finance.
- Deal Origination: Drive deal origination through promoters, UHNI/Family Offices, PE/VC funds, corporates, and institutional relationships.
- Execution Oversight: Manage end-to-end deal execution, including pitchbooks, Information Memorandums (IMs), valuations, due diligence, negotiations, and transaction closure.
- Pipeline Management: Build and manage a robust Investment Banking pipeline, ensuring consistent fee generation and high conversion ratios.
- Cross-Selling Opportunities: Collaborate closely with Wealth Management, PMS, and AIF teams to enable cross-selling and capital raise opportunities.
- Client Engagement: Lead client interactions at CXO, promoter, and investor levels, acting as a trusted strategic advisor.
- Team Leadership: Build, mentor, and manage the Investment Banking team (Associates, VPs, Directors) with strong execution discipline.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to regulatory, compliance, and governance standards across all Investment Banking transactions.
- Market Representation: Represent the firm in market forums, investor meetings, and strategic partnerships.
- Revenue Ownership: Own Investment Banking revenue targets, profitability, and cost discipline.
Skills Required
Domain Skills
- Investment Banking Experience: Strong background in M&A (buy-side and sell-side), private equity/strategic fundraising, corporate finance, and strategic advisory.
- Capital Markets Knowledge: Deep understanding of Indian capital markets, PE/VC ecosystem, and corporate deal landscape.
- Transaction Track Record: Proven history of closed transactions with measurable deal value.
- Sector Exposure: Experience across financial services, manufacturing, consumer, healthcare, infrastructure, or technology preferred.
Technical Skills
- Financial Expertise: Proficient in financial modeling, valuation (DCF, comps, transaction multiples).
- Documentation Skills: Strong command over IMs, pitchbooks, teasers, and transaction documentation.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Understanding of SEBI regulations, Companies Act, FEMA, and transaction structuring.
- Analytical Skills: Ability to evaluate business models, risks, and deal economics.
- CRM Proficiency: Comfortable with CRM tools, pipeline management, and financial analysis platforms.
Managerial Skills
- Leadership Capabilities: Strong leadership and people management skills.
- Client Management: Excellent negotiation, client management, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Target-Driven: Ability to thrive in a high-pressure, target-driven environment.
- Strategic Thinking: Strong execution orientation with proven collaborative abilities across Wealth, PMS, AIF, and Research teams.
Experience & Qualifications
- Experience: 15+ years of relevant experience in Investment Banking, Corporate Finance, or Transaction Advisory.
- Background: Prior experience at investment banks, Big 4 deal advisory, boutique IB firms, or leading financial institutions.
- Education: MBA / CA / CFA or equivalent professional qualification preferred.
- Leadership Experience: Demonstrated experience in leading teams and managing P&L or revenue targets
