Head of Electrical Engineering (Renewable Energy)
Location: Munich, Germany | Hybrid Working
A rapidly growing renewable energy platform is looking to appoint a Head of Electrical Engineering to lead the electrical design and technical delivery of a large-scale standalone BESS pipeline across Germany.
The Role:
You will lead all electrical engineering activities across the German portfolio, acting as the key technical authority for the business.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading electrical engineering activities across utility-scale projects from development through to execution
- Defining and implementing technical standards, specifications, and engineering processes
- Managing electrical system design including MV & HV infrastructure, substations, transformers, protection systems, and grid connection interfaces
- Overseeing external engineering partners, EPCs, OEMs, and technical consultants
- Supporting grid connection strategy and coordination with TSOs and DSOs
- Reviewing power system studies, electrical layouts, and technical documentation
- Acting as the internal technical expert for all electrical engineering matters
- Supporting project optimisation, risk mitigation, and technical due diligence
- Building and leading the electrical engineering function as the company scales
Your Background:
The business is looking for an experienced electrical engineering professional with a strong background in utility-scale renewable energy or large infrastructure projects.
Requirements include:
- Extensive experience within electrical engineering for renewable energy, BESS, transmission, or large infrastructure projects
- Strong understanding of HV systems, substations, and grid integration
- Experience working on utility-scale projects within the German market
- Familiarity with German grid standards and regulatory requirements
- Fluent German and professional English language skills
