Head of Regulatory Strategy & Public Policy
An leading European provider of liquefied natural gas (LNG) operating across Europe, is seeking a regulatory professional to join at a pivotal stage of growth and transformation. The organisation is expanding rapidly through strategic acquisitions and is evolving its commercial, operational, and digital capabilities
This role combines elements of regulatory strategy, public policy, and advisory support. The successful candidate will play a key role in interpreting complex and evolving European energy regulations, while supporting both strategic decision-making and day-to-day commercial activities
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret and translate EU regulatory developments across bioenergy, biomethane, and bio-LNG into actionable business insights
- Provide clear internal guidance to commercial and trading teams on regulatory frameworks and compliance
- Support the development of regulatory strategy, including market design and country-specific opportunity mapping
- Contribute to public affairs and policy engagement activities, with potential to grow into a more externally focused role
- Monitor regulatory changes across multiple European markets and assess business impact
- Collaborate closely with trading, sourcing, and commercial teams to identify regulatory-driven opportunities
Role Scope & Development
This position is designed as a hybrid between a hands-on regulatory advisor and a future strategic leader in public policy. The initial focus will be on advisory and internal support, with scope to expand into external engagement, lobbying, and strategic influence over time
Candidate Profile
- Strong understanding of EU energy regulation, particularly in renewable gases (bio-LNG, biomethane, bioenergy
- Experience in regulatory analysis, policy, or advisory roles within energy, utilities, or related sectors
- Ability to translate complex regulatory frameworks into practical business guidance
- Commercial awareness, with an interest in how regulation shapes market opportunities
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
- Interest in developing toward a more strategic, externally facing public affairs
Location
- Flexible within Europe. Key hubs include Amsterdam and Madrid, with potential for a Brussels-based or remote setup. Travel across European markets will be required
