As Head of Financial Controlling, you will take ownership of Financial Controlling and be responsible for preparation and overseeing financial reporting for the group (month-end closing, consolidation and financial statements) while ensuring alignment with the company’s overall strategy and objectives. You are expected to play a vital role in Finance Operations with a good possibility of making a difference.
The role combines strategic financial leadership with a deep understanding of accounting principles after IFRS and the dynamics of an energy trading company. The Head of Financial Controlling must balance technical proficiency with leadership capabilities to develop and mentor a high-performing team.
You are hands-on in your leadership, working closely with colleagues to embed a conscious culture while driving modernization and efficiency in how Mind Energy approach Financial Controlling. Your tasks and responsibilities can be summarized as follows:
Leadership
- Support professional and personal development of team members, foster great collaboration within the team and towards the rest of the Mind Energy organisation
Month-end close
- Performing month-end tasks, including reconciliations, consolidation, reviewing journal entries, and accounting adjustments.
- Take full ownership of the process and ensure continuous development
- Secure quality of information, including investigation and explanations of significant deviations
Financial statements
- Internal reporting to subsidiaries and group management in close collaboration with FP&A.
- Preparing external financial statements for the group and subsidiaries.
Consolidation incl. master data
- Ensure effective consolidation tool
- Assess charts of accounts and cost-and profit centers
Audit, dialogue & annual report
- Responsible for planning, conducting, and controlling the audit process, as well as ongoing dialogue with the external audit.
Process efficiency and accuracy
- Optimizing consolidation and reporting processing and improving efficiency and accuracy. Identify opportunities for automation, streamlining workflows, and implementing best practices to enhance the team's productivity and effectiveness
- Drive continuous improvements
Financial reporting, controls & compliance
- Responsible for the accurate and timely reporting of monthly and annual accounts to management, stakeholders and selected authorities.
- Responsible for building an effective internal control environment where relevant accounting standards and applicable laws are followed
- Establish and maintain effective internal processes and controls
- Accounting GAAP Compliance (IFRS, DK etc.), DK GAAP compliance
- The Danish Bookkeeping Act, etc.
We envision you hold the following profile to succeed
- You probably have a Cand.Merc Aud and experience with auditing larger complex corporations
- You have good understanding of accounting principles after IFRS and the dynamics of an energy trading company
- You have a hands-on mindset, ready to build structured processes and ensure they are implemented effectively across the organization
- At a personal level you are proactive and thrive in a role where you set direction and drive change
- You have strong stakeholder management skills, enabling you to work effectively with traders, sales teams, finance, and senior management
- You enjoy working in a dynamic and evolving finance environment, where you can implement solutions and have a tangible impact
- You are able to communicate fluently in Danish and English.
