Head of Electrical, Instrumentation & Control (E,I&C) - RELOCATION TO GERMANY IS OK (Must be a UK or EU Citizen)

We are partnering with a fast-growing, innovative clean energy company at the forefront of sustainable resource extraction and renewable technologies. The organisation is playing a critical role in decarbonising European industry and enabling a secure, local supply of key materials essential for the energy transition.

As part of their continued growth, they are seeking a Head of Electrical, Instrumentation & Control (E,I&C) to lead a high-performing engineering function supporting major capital projects.

The Role

This is a senior leadership position responsible for building, developing, and directing the E,I&C function across multiple complex industrial projects. You will play a key role in ensuring technical excellence, governance, and delivery across the full project lifecycle.

Key responsibilities include

  • Building and leading the E,I&C team, including hiring, development, and performance management
  • Owning the technical quality and delivery of all E,I&C outputs
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant standards (IEC, VDE, ATEX) and internal design frameworks
  • Coordinating resources across multiple concurrent projects, managing timelines, risks, and priorities
  • Leading interfaces between disciplines (process, mechanical, construction) to ensure seamless integration
  • Overseeing external engineering partners and vendors, providing technical direction and assurance
  • Developing discipline standards, specifications, and engineering procedures

Supporting budget planning, cost tracking, and resource forecasting

Candidate Profile

Leadership & Experience

  • Proven leadership experience within Instrumentation, Control & Electrical (ICE/E,I&C) on large-scale industrial projects
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a full function - not just technical expertise, but structure, governance, and team development
  • Strong background in EPCM / EPC project environments, ideally with tier-one engineering firms (e.g. Technip or similar)

Technical Background

  • Degree-qualified in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Instrumentation, or related field
  • 15+ years’ experience in capital-intensive industries (oil & gas, energy, chemicals, large industrial plants)
  • Strong expertise in: DCS / PLC systemsSafety Instrumented Systems (SIS), Medium voltage systems & industrial instrumentation
  • Familiarity with key standards: IEC 61511, IEC 61131, IEC 60079 (ATEX), VDE
  • Experience with Siemens systems and engineering tools (e.g. AVEVA or similar) is an advantage

Additional Strengths

  • Strong communicator, able to influence both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Collaborative, solution-oriented mindset across multidisciplinary teams
  • Comfortable operating in fast-paced, project-driven environments
  • Fluent English required; German is a plus
  • Willingness to travel as required
