Role Description The Head of Credit Risk Management is a full-time, on-site role based in Dhaka, responsible for leading the bank’s credit risk strategy, framework, and governance. The role oversees the assessment, approval, and monitoring of credit exposures across corporate, SME, retail, and other portfolios, ensuring alignment with internal risk appetite and regulatory requirements. Day-to-day responsibilities include designing and maintaining credit policies and rating models, reviewing high-value and complex credit proposals, and monitoring portfolio performance, concentration, and early warning indicators. The role requires regular collaboration with business units, credit administration, collections, and compliance to balance growth with prudent risk-taking, as well as preparing risk reports and presentations for senior management, the Board, and regulators. The Head of Credit Risk Management will also drive risk culture, mentor team members, and lead continuous improvements in credit risk processes, analytics, and systems.
Qualifications
- Strong expertise in credit risk assessment, portfolio management, and credit policy development, particularly within commercial, corporate, and retail banking.
- Proven experience in regulatory compliance related to credit risk, including familiarity with Bangladesh Bank guidelines, Basel frameworks, and relevant local and international banking regulations.
- Advanced skills in financial analysis, credit modeling, and use of risk analytics or MIS tools to monitor credit quality, concentration risk, and portfolio trends.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities in managing cross-functional teams, influencing stakeholders, and fostering a strong risk-aware culture across the organization.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills to clearly articulate risk issues, recommendations, and reports to senior management, the Board, and external stakeholders.
- Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related discipline; professional certifications (e.g., FRM, CFA, PRM) are highly advantageous.
- Significant prior experience in a senior credit risk, credit management, or risk governance role within a bank or financial institution, preferably in Bangladesh or similar markets.
