Do you want to make a difference and contribute to creating a better world? Are you interested in developing your skills and knowledge, while putting your ideals to work? Join us – we are a frontrunner in ethical banking and global impact investing, and we need people like you to make change happen.
We believe that money can change the world for the better. In fact, our organisation was founded on this belief. Our mission is to create a society that protects and promotes the quality of life of all its members with human dignity at its core.
We’re looking for a strategic leader to take full ownership of our business banking growth agenda. This newly created role will shape how we serve SMEs, social enterprises, and high-impact larger businesses across our European markets. You will lead multiple agile product teams, make sharp strategic choices about which client segments to serve, define the strategy for our business lending and digital banking propositions, and unify our approach to lending, credit risk, and customer processes – ensuring every decision balances commercial performance with positive societal impact.
How you will make a difference
You will help us to ‘change finance to finance change’, by owning the end-to-end performance of our business banking growth portfolio – from strategy through execution to measurable impact. Reporting directly to the Group Director Customer Journeys, you will lead the teams that develop and deliver our business banking propositions across the Netherlands, Belgium, and the UK.
- Define and execute the strategic roadmap for enabling business banking growth, setting clear priorities and measurable outcomes.
- Lead and develop your value stream – a dedicated, outcome-focused business unit within our agile operating model. You will direct multiple empowered product teams, each a cross-functional group of product managers, analysts, engineers, and designers with end-to-end ownership of their products. You set the vision, steer priorities, and create the conditions for these teams to deliver autonomously
- Deliver lending solutions, digital banking journeys, and sector-specific financing for renewable energy, circular economy, social enterprise, and high-impact larger enterprise clients
- Drive the digitalisation of business banking journeys – simplifying account management, lending applications, and financial planning so clients can easily provide data and quickly obtain financing certainty
- Own shared P&L responsibility for the business banking portfolio, with accountability for product performance, cost-to-serve, and product profitability – managing the annual budget and making disciplined trade-offs between initiatives
- Champion automation, data, and AI to accelerate decision-making, improve customer experiences, and drive operational efficiency across the value stream
- Hold first-line accountability for risk and compliance across the full product lifecycle – from governance and risk assessments through to compliance checks – safeguarding impact integrity and preventing greenwashing
- Build alignment with country leadership, credit risk, commercial teams, and support functions to drive adoption and resolve cross-market dependencies
What you will bring
Your unique potential and your values matter for us most. We look for people who are self-aware and who think in a holistic way, always conscious about their impact on society, the environment, and the economy.
To be successful in this role, you will:
- Inspire your teams and stakeholders with a compelling vision for sustainable business banking, making bold decisions that prioritise long-term societal impact alongside commercial results
- Lead with integrity and courage, daring to have difficult conversations and challenging conventional banking practices when needed
- Empower your teams by delegating authority and creating the conditions for autonomous, outcome-focused delivery
- Build strong partnerships across functions and countries, bringing diverse stakeholders together around shared goals
Furthermore, you will bring:
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in business banking, SME lending, or corporate finance, including at least 3 years in a senior leadership role with P&L or portfolio accountability
- Demonstrable experience with credit risk frameworks, pricing strategy, and lending product development – ideally across multiple client segments (SME, mid-market, or impact-driven enterprises)
- A track record of leading end-to-end strategy execution in a regulated financial services environment, including first-line risk ownership and regulatory compliance accountability
- Experience leading cross-functional teams through large-scale change in complex, multi-country or multi-business-unit organisations
- Familiarity with digital banking transformation, including digitalisation of lending journeys and customer-facing processes
- Experience with or strong affinity for sustainability, impact investing, or ESG-integrated business strategies
- Exposure to Agile or Lean ways of working, ideally in a product-led or value-stream-based organisation
- Professional proficiency in English (spoken and written); Dutch is a strong plus
Your future colleagues
You will report directly to the Group Director Customer Journeys. Your team consists of multiple cross-functional product teams, each typically including a Product Manager, Change Analyst, Software Engineers, and a Tester – all working together on specific parts of the business banking portfolio. Product Managers and Change Analysts report directly to you; Engineers and Testers report to you functionally while retaining a hierarchical line in the technology organisation. Additionally, specialists in design, marketing, and business banking work across your teams to ensure consistency and quality.
Beyond your direct team, you’ll collaborate closely with the other senior leaders who own adjacent product areas, as well as the Managing Directors of our entities in the Netherlands, Belgium, Spain, and the UK to ensure your strategy lands locally. You’ll also partner with colleagues in Risk, Legal, Impact, Commercial Steering, Strategy and Design.
