About the Opportunity

Our company has built its foundation as a private label producer serving customers across the frozen food industry. As we continue to grow those core businesses, we are launching a branded retail products division and are seeking an experienced Fractional Head of Brand & Commercialization to help build the commercial foundation for this business.

This individual will work directly with company leadership to develop commercialization strategy, support retail launches, oversee marketing initiatives, and establish the processes and partnerships needed to support long-term growth.

This role is ideal for a senior consumer packaged goods (CPG) leader who enjoys building brands, launching products, and helping create new businesses from the ground up.

Position Overview

The Fractional Head of Brand & Commercialization will serve as both the strategic and operational leader for the company’s branded products division.

This individual will be responsible for developing commercialization strategy while also helping drive execution across brand development, trade marketing, shopper marketing, retail activation, consumer engagement, agency management, and launch planning.

As an early leader within the branded business, this role requires a builder’s mindset and a willingness to operate both strategically and tactically.

Key Responsibilities

Brand Strategy & Commercialization

  • Develop brand positioning, messaging, and consumer value propositions.
  • Create commercialization and growth plans.
  • Provide guidance on packaging, innovation, and product launch initiatives.
  • Identify category, consumer, and market opportunities that support growth.

Retail Activation & Trade Marketing

  • Develop retailer-specific activation strategies.
  • Support retail launches and commercialization initiatives.
  • Guide trade marketing, shopper marketing, and retail media investments.
  • Help establish promotional calendars and trade investment frameworks.
  • Evaluate promotional effectiveness and marketing ROI.

Consumer Marketing & Agency Management

  • Oversee website, social media, and consumer engagement initiatives.
  • Support content development and brand storytelling.
  • Identify and manage external agency partners.
  • Ensure alignment between marketing activities and business objectives.

Building the Function

  • Establish scalable commercialization and marketing processes.
  • Develop performance metrics and reporting frameworks.
  • Recommend future talent, agency, and resource needs.
  • Help build the foundation for a future commercialization organization.

Qualifications

Required

  • 10+ years of experience within consumer packaged goods.
  • Experience in brand management, commercialization, trade marketing, shopper marketing, customer marketing, or commercial marketing leadership.
  • Demonstrated success launching and growing consumer brands.
  • Experience working with national retailers and retailer marketing programs.
  • Strong understanding of trade promotion management, retail media, and shopper marketing.
  • Experience managing agencies and cross-functional initiatives.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and project leadership skills.
  • Comfortable balancing strategic leadership with hands-on execution.

Preferred

  • Experience in frozen foods, refrigerated foods, snacks, convenience foods, or related consumer packaged goods categories.
  • Experience supporting major retail channels including grocery, mass, club, convenience, or specialty retail.
  • Experience building brands within emerging or growth-stage businesses.
  • Previous experience in a fractional, interim, consulting, startup, or entrepreneurial leadership role.

Engagement Details

  • Fractional engagement (approximately 10–20 hours per week)
  • Remote
  • Initial 12-month engagement
  • Opportunity to expand responsibilities as the business grows
