🎯 About the Role
As our Head of Engineering / Engineering Manager, you will bridge the gap between high-level technology strategy and day-to-day execution across our IT services and consulting projects. You will directly manage, mentor, and grow our engineering teams, ensuring they have the tools, skills, and support needed to deliver top-tier Java solutions for our clients.
While this is a leadership role focused on people management and delivery governance, your deep roots in the Java stack will enable you to act as a trusted sounding board for our technical architects and developers.
💼 What You’ll Do
- People Leadership & Mentorship: Manage, coach, and support the career growth of a distributed team of Java engineers and consultants. Conduct regular 1-on-1s, performance reviews, and skill-gap analyses.
- Delivery & Agile Governance: Oversee engineering execution across multiple client projects. Partner with Project Managers and Scrum Masters to ensure milestones are met on time and with exceptional quality.
- Engineering Excellence: Uphold and improve engineering standards, ensuring best practices in clean code, testing, CI/CD pipelines, and microservices architecture.
- Resource Allocation & Hiring: Collaborate with talent acquisition to interview, onboard, and scale the engineering team. Strategically assign developers to client projects based on skills and growth goals.
- Client & Stakeholder Alignment: Work closely with technical architects and client-facing teams to ensure technical delivery aligns precisely with client expectations.
🛠️ What We’re Looking For
- Engineering Management Experience: 2+ years of experience leading, managing, and scaling engineering teams, ideally within an IT services, professional services, or consulting company.
- Strong Java Foundation: A solid background as a software engineer with deep familiarity with Java, Spring Boot, and cloud-native microservices architectures.
- Agile Mastery: Strong expertise in Agile/Scrum methodologies, sprint planning, and modern delivery metrics.
- Exceptional Communication: Exceptional emotional intelligence, conflict-resolution skills, and the ability to keep distributed teams aligned and motivated.
- Language: Professional fluency in English is mandatory. Working knowledge of Portuguese is highly beneficial for team integration and local collaboration.
