AI Futures have been retained to identify a Lead AI Engineer for an ambitious AI-first technology company based in Issum, NRW.

Unlike businesses that simply consume AI technologies, this company develops and operates its own AI ecosystem, including proprietary AI models, AI platforms, training infrastructure, cloud environments and data centre capabilities. They are building next-generation AI solutions, digital employees and agentic systems that are already being deployed into real-world environments.

The Role

Design, build and deploy production-grade AI applications and platforms.
Develop agentic AI systems and autonomous workflows.
Work with LLMs, RAG architectures and multi-agent frameworks.
Help shape the future technical direction of the company's AI ecosystem.
Collaborate closely with founders, technical leadership and product stakeholders.
Contribute across architecture, infrastructure and application development.
Build scalable AI solutions from concept through to production deployment.
Operate within a fast-moving environment where ownership and initiative are highly valued.

The Candidate

Experience building production AI solutions.
Strong background in AI Engineering, Applied AI, Machine Learning Engineering or AI Architecture.
Hands-on experience with LLMs, Generative AI and modern AI frameworks.
Exposure to RAG systems, AI agents, LangChain, LangGraph, LlamaIndex or similar technologies.
Strong software engineering foundations, ideally with Python.
Experience deploying and scaling AI applications in cloud environments.
Comfortable working in a startup, scale-up or entrepreneurial environment.
Strong communicator who can operate with a high degree of autonomy.

Desirable Experience

Multi-agent systems.
AI platform development.
MLOps and AI infrastructure.
Model deployment and optimisation.
Vector databases and retrieval systems.
Azure, AWS or GCP environments.
Experience building products from zero to production.
