Eden Scott are delighted to be working with an client who are looking for a highly motivated individual to join their team as their new Head of Operations, on a full-time, permanent basis at their site in Insch, Aberdeenshire. The company is an engineering and fabrication company that delivers precision steelwork, marine and offshore services, and bespoke equipment solutions for a variety of industries.
About the Role
The Head of Operations is responsible for leading and coordinating the operational performance of the business across fabrication, marine, and hire activities. The role ensures the company has the operational capability, resources, systems, and infrastructure required to support safe, efficient, and commercially successful project delivery.
Responsibilities
- Act as a central point of operational coordination across departments to ensure the business operates as one aligned and high-performing team.
- Support the managers in aligning operational priorities, resources, and workloads with company objectives.
- Ensure operational capability, workforce planning, infrastructure, systems, and equipment are effectively managed to support project delivery and business growth.
- Work closely with Managers to ensure operational support is aligned with project schedules, mobilisation plans, and client requirements.
- Assist with tendering, quotation submissions and client engagement.
- Identify and remove operational obstacles that may impact project execution, productivity, or delivery timelines.
- Monitor operational efficiency, utilisation, productivity, and cost performance across all operational areas.
- Develop and implement operational improvement initiatives to increase efficiency, reduce downtime, and improve overall business performance.
- Support the development of operational processes, systems, reporting, and performance standards.
- Provide operational reporting, analysis and recommendations to Directors.
- Support the delivery of a strong and consistent Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality (HSEQ) culture across all operational functions.
- Work collaboratively with the QHSE Manager and Managers to ensure HSEQ standards, procedures, and regulatory requirements are effectively implemented across the business.
- Support Directors in the delivery of strategic initiatives, operational objectives, and long-term business goals.
- Contribute to operational planning and business growth strategies.
Qualifications
Proven senior operational management experience within fabrication, marine, offshore, engineering, or heavy industrial environments.
Required Skills
- Strong fabrication and/or marine operational background is essential.
- Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional operational teams within complex, project-driven businesses.
- Strong understanding of project delivery, operational planning, resource coordination, utilisation management, and HSEQ standards.
- Experience supporting operational improvement, business growth, and organisational development initiatives.
