Job Description
As Head of Engineering, you will lead a distributed team of seven engineers while remaining 50-70% hands-on in the code. Reporting to the CEO, you'll architect AI-native systems using LLMs and computer vision to replace legacy government processes. You will own engineering execution end-to-end, defining the technical culture for a rapidly scaling organization.

What You Will Do
- Own engineering execution and delivery end-to-end, maintaining a 50-70% individual contributor load while scaling a distributed team across the US and Nigeria.
- Architect and implement agentic workflows using React, Node, and Postgres, leveraging LLMs, computer vision, and voice AI to automate permit processing.
- Partner with the CEO to make critical architectural decisions that protect the company’s moat and ensure engineering becomes a primary competitive advantage.
The ideal candidate
- Proven experience leading engineering teams of 6+ at early-stage B2B startups, with a track record of shipping 0-to-1 products to enterprise customers.
- Expert hands-on fluency across the full stack (React, Node, Postgres, AWS) and deep experience building production-grade data infrastructure and AI-native systems.
- Strong background in managing distributed or offshore engineering teams and a desire to work in a high-ownership, hybrid San Francisco-based environment.
