Objective of the Role – Head Corporate Strategy
To develop and drive the organization's long-term strategic vision, ensuring sustainable growth, enhanced shareholder value, and competitive advantage through strategic planning, business portfolio optimization, organic and inorganic growth initiatives, market expansion, and enterprise-wide transformation programs.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
Corporate Strategy & Long-Term Planning
- Develop and drive the company's 3–5 year and 10-year strategic roadmap.
- Identify growth opportunities across existing and new businesses.
- Define strategic priorities aligned with shareholder expectations and market trends.
- Lead annual strategic planning and business review processes.
- Establish strategic KPIs and monitor execution.
Organic Growth Strategy
- Identify new markets, customer segments, and product opportunities.
- Drive business expansion plans domestically and internationally.
- Evaluate diversification opportunities within existing capabilities.
- Support business units in developing growth strategies and profitability improvement initiatives.
Inorganic Growth (M&A, Joint Ventures & Partnerships)
- Identify acquisition targets and strategic investment opportunities.
- Lead merger, acquisition, divestiture, and JV evaluations.
- Conduct commercial due diligence and strategic assessments.
- Manage negotiations alongside finance, legal, and business leaders.
- Oversee post-merger integration and value realization.
Portfolio Management
- Evaluate performance of various business units and subsidiaries.
- Recommend investments, restructuring, spin-offs, or divestments.
- Optimize capital allocation across businesses.
- Assess strategic fit and long-term value creation of each business vertical.
Market Intelligence & Competitive Analysis
- Monitor industry trends, disruptive technologies, regulations, and competitor activities.
- Develop strategic insights for executive leadership and the board.
- Identify emerging risks and opportunities impacting future growth.
Business Transformation & Special Projects
- Lead enterprise-wide transformation initiatives.
- Drive operational excellence, digital transformation, and business model innovation.
- Sponsor high-impact cross-functional projects.
- Support turnaround strategies for underperforming businesses.
Board & Leadership Engagement
- Prepare strategic presentations for the Board and Executive Committee.
- Facilitate strategy workshops with senior leadership.
- Provide recommendations on key strategic decisions.
- Support MD & CEO on critical business initiatives.
Capital Allocation & Investment Planning
- Evaluate major capital expenditure proposals.
- Assess ROI, strategic fit, and risk of investments.
- Prioritize strategic investments across business units.
- Work closely with Finance and Investor Relations teams
International Expansion
- Assess global market entry opportunities.
- Develop market-entry strategies through greenfield, acquisitions, or partnerships.
- Evaluate geopolitical and regulatory risks.
- Build strategic alliances in international markets.
Sustainability & Future Readiness
- Integrate ESG and sustainability goals into corporate strategy.
- Assess future technologies and industry disruptions.
- Develop long-term resilience and risk mitigation strategies.
Preferred Candidate Requirements
- MBA from a premier institution preferred; Engineering background would be an advantage.
- 15–20 years of progressive experience in Corporate Strategy, Business Planning, Corporate Development, M&A, Transformation, or Business Leadership roles.
- Preferably from a multinational organization with an annual turnover of ₹7,000 Crores or more.
- Proven experience working within multi-business, multi-location, and multiple legal entity environments, managing strategic initiatives across diverse business units and subsidiaries.
- Strong track record of driving enterprise-wide strategic planning, growth initiatives, and business transformation programs.
- Hands-on experience in evaluating and executing organic and inorganic growth opportunities, including mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, strategic partnerships, and market expansion initiatives.
- Experience in portfolio management, capital allocation, investment evaluation, and value creation initiatives.
- Strong commercial and financial acumen with expertise in business case development, valuation, financial modeling, and strategic analysis.
- Experience and Ability to work closely with CEOs, Boards, Executive Committees, and global leadership teams.
- Exposure to international markets, cross-border operations, and global strategic projects would be highly desirable.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence senior leadership and drive alignment across multiple functions and business entities.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and presentation capabilities.
- Proven leadership experience in managing cross-functional teams and driving complex strategic programs from concept through execution.
