About the Opportunity

The Applied AI Engineer will focus on building and expanding AI-powered features within a live SaaS platform, initially enhancing the AI Coach experience. The role involves translating product ideas into production-ready AI capabilities that deliver real value to customers. This position is suited for an engineer skilled in applying generative AI technologies practically in production settings, contributing directly to the organization's fintech solutions.

Responsibilities

AI Integration & Feature Development

Product Collaboration: Develop and improve AI-driven product features in close partnership with product and core engineering teams.
Prompt Engineering: Design, iterate, and refine complex prompts to enhance AI response quality, accuracy, and feature effectiveness.
Productivity Optimization: Actively utilize AI-assisted development tools to boost engineering productivity and accelerate feature experimentation.

Backend & Data Engineering

Service Architecture: Build robust Python-based microservices and clean APIs to support scalable AI workflows.
Framework Implementation: Implement and scale features seamlessly within a FastAPI-based backend architecture.
Data Management: Manage structured relational data using PostgreSQL, alongside vector-based storage systems optimized for generative AI applications.
Technical Design: Engage in active technical discussions regarding upcoming feature designs, architectural decisions, and deployment execution.

Requirements

Core Software Engineering

Tenure: Minimum of 3 years of professional software engineering experience.
Language Proficiency: Strong, production-level proficiency in Python development.
Backend Systems: Skilled in building stable backend services, microservices, or external API integrations.
Execution Style: Strong problem-solving and debugging capabilities within distributed systems.

Generative AI & Tooling

AI Coding Workflows: Practical experience working with AI-powered coding assistants, with a strong preference for Anthropic's Claude Code ecosystem.
LLM Engineering: Hands-on familiarity interacting with LLM APIs, generative AI vendor services, or building AI-enabled application features.
Team Dynamics: Ability to collaborate effectively and communicate technical designs within fast-moving, cross-functional teams.

Nice to Have

Direct experience with FastAPI or similar modern Python web frameworks.
Structural knowledge of prompt evaluation strategies or systematic LLM testing methodologies.
Proven background integrating and monitoring generative AI features within live production SaaS platforms.
Industry experience operating within fintech or business-to-business (B2B) SaaS environments.

Compensation and Benefits

Compensation

Base Salary Range: Estimated annual base salary range of $125,000 to $155,000 USD.
Variable Incentives: Eligibility for an annual performance-based corporate bonus.
Equity Participation: Opportunities for equity and stock ownership participation.
Placement Matrix: Actual final compensation will be determined based on the selected candidate's qualifications, unique skills, experience, and geographic location.
