Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Writer role based at Gateway International School in Chennai. The Writer will create clear, engaging, and age-appropriate written content for school communications, including newsletters, website copy, brochures, social media posts, and internal announcements. They will collaborate with educators and administrative staff to document school events, academic initiatives, and student achievements, ensuring consistency in tone and messaging. The role includes drafting, revising, and proofreading materials, maintaining style guidelines, and aligning all content with the school’s mission and values. The Writer will also support scriptwriting for school events, assist with content planning for campaigns, and maintain an organized archive of written materials.
Qualifications
- Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills with the ability to adapt tone for different audiences (students, families, staff, and external stakeholders).
- Experience creating content for newsletters, websites, social media, and print materials, preferably in an educational or nonprofit setting.
- Excellent command of written and spoken English, with attention to detail, grammar, and clarity.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, administrators, and other team members to gather information and translate it into compelling narratives.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Comfort working on-site in a school environment in Chennai and engaging respectfully with learners and families from diverse backgrounds.
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Communications, Education, or a related field (or equivalent relevant experience).
- Familiarity with basic design or publishing tools (e.g., MS Office, Google Workspace; exposure to Canva or similar tools is an advantage).
- Demonstrated interest in education, child development, or school communications is highly beneficial.
